There are two kinds of horse-shoes. Frullard, and Flat. The Flat being just ordinary. But the Fullard has a grove at the back.
There is an instrument called a Drill Wheel. But they are started with a Stamp, and shaped and finished with a Pritchel which is like a Punch only it has three sides.
The Anvil is on a block of Elm. It is called "The Anvil Block."
It is three feet under and over the ground. When the horse-shoe is being beaten on the Anvil is is held with a Tongs, and if a clump of sparks fly from it it foretells, that there will be a new blacksmith.
There are three kinds of hammers, the sledge hammer which weighs nine pounds, the three pound hammer and the shoeing hammer. There are two kinds of nails, Star, and Rifle nails. Both have three sides.
Some work is done out-of-doors such as making rims for cart-wheels.
Outside the forge there is a wing of stones numbering eight. Each one is shaped like a fan. Then there is a big round iron thing with a smaller hole in the middle laid on top of the stone
