    said the man. "Will you give it to me"? she asked. "No" said he. "Give it to me and I will marry you" said the mermaid. He did. The two of them were married, but after a few years she went down to her home under the water, and left the man to mourn after her.
    This is a piece of poetry I have heard about them.
    "Down in the diving bells
    In the bottom of the sea
    Those nice little mermaids
    Pretty little mermaids
    All came courting me."
