    manure before being ploughed.
    Thr majority of farmers sow them in drills. Some in the scotch plan, some in ridges. The drills are made with a double board plough in finely broken ground. The other methods are to sow them under the sod.
    About seventy years ago wooden ploughs were chiefly used throughout the country, but now iron ploughs are used. Very few wooden ploughs are to be found now. A few may be stowed away in country places. Spades are now made in Irish foundries such as that in Wexford.
    Potatoes are sowed in boxes a month before sowing. The farmers usually help each other to sow the potatoes
