    to say that rosary. So Mrs Kavanagh and her two sons and her brother went up to say the rosary and the two visitors stayed downstairs in the sitting room. They could hear the others sayings the rosary in the room above and suddenly they were started to hear a terrible hammering Mrs. Kavanagh came down and implored the two ladies not to be making so much noise. They said they were not making any noise.The widow went back to continue the prayers and the whole time the hammering kept on continuously until the prayers were over, then it ceased. In the past few years Ballyowen Castle was used for stabling houses and keeping hay in.
    There is an entrance to a tunnel in Ballyowen Castle which goes in two ways, one to Saggart Co, Dublin, the others to the Hermitage Golf Club.In a field near the Castle there is an entrance to a tunnel which leads out to Shackleton's wood in
