    in the same manner as the cows. They are at one end of the barn and the cows at the other. When the calves are young they are called suckling calves. After they are calved we put an old saucepan or a stocking on their mouths for fear they would get choked with straw or hay. We have to give the calves milk until they are about two or three months. Then they are able to eat hay.
    The name of our ass is Pigeon. He is a small black ass about ten years of age. When we are driving the ass and want him to stand we say woo. When we are calling the ass we say pu-sheh. We have him tied with a halter. It is made of a piece of rope and tied to a stick which is stuck down in the ground. The name of the barn he is tied in is William's barn because an old man named William that built it.
    The name of our horse is Charlie because it was off a man named Charlie we bought him. The barn he is in is called the fillies barn. He is of a dark red. When we want him to stand we
