    There was once a man coming from Ballina late at night.

    There was once a man coming from Ballina late at night. As he was about a mile from the town he saw a man lying before him on the road. He blessed himself and spat on his stick so he passed on another bit farther and he saw the same man on the road before him. He blessed himself again and passed on. He went a bit farther and he heard a barrel rolling after him. It knocked him three times on the road. When the man rose he blessed himself and walked on. As he was passing by Perrie's wood a turkey cock crossed
