The place has been mentioned in song but only snatches of these are heard and remembered now. The stories connected with this place are no great interest. The Keerglen river was navigable in ages past and pirates came in off the sea and sailed up the river. The people and their herds then took refuge in the old castles where there was accomodation for man and beast.
