    and town to make boots and shoes for young and old. In this parish there were eight families of boot-makers. Doyle's, O'Donnels, Walshe's, Higgins', McTigue's, Kilroys, Rosengrave's, and Vizzard who was of Dutch descent. The boots made in these establishments were of a heavy make.
    Clogs were not made in Mayo at that time. They (were) are made in Chapel Street and George's Street but the soles are imported.
