  1. In former times there were only three regular meals eaten and there was no four or five o'clock tea as there is now. These meals were called breakfast, dinner and supper. People generally worked two or three hours before their breakfast which eaten at about ten o'clock, and their dinner was at two, and supper at about nine when the day's work was over.
    Breakfast generally consisted of oatmeal or Indian meal porridge as it was termed in those days, "stirabout" eaten with new milk or churned milk. Potatoes were used for dinner, with milk, butter and
