  1. The name of my native village is Lismegan. This is a very old village. The word Lismegan means "The fort of Megan" or "Megan's fort". Megan was a chief over the Barony of Costello about sixty years ago. He lived in a fort which belonged to him in this village, so that is the way Lismegan got its name.
    The fort which was there at that time is not to be seen now. There are only a few little hills, some stones and a few trees growing around where it was.
