  1. Practically all the people in my district sow about five roods of potatoes every year. Sometimes the amount varies. The farmers in my district sow the potatoes in ridges. A few of them sow them in drills. The land is not manured before the crop is sown. The plough is always used in turning over the sod. People who cannot afford a plough turn the sods with the spade.
    Wooden ploughs were used abput fifty years ago but there are only very few left. The spades were made by the local blacksmith
