roadways whirls and ascends in columns rain is usually expected.
When wet weather is approaching flies come down low on account of the heavy moist atmosphere. Birds follow them down, then we see that wet weather is coming. Flies persecute horses and cattle when a period of settled fine weather is approaching or at hand. A long column of smoke ascends from the chimney when we are to have fine weather. If soot falls, or if a blue blaze occurs in the fire people look out for rain.
