  1. Once upon a time there was a hedge-school in the village of Sha?-walla. The school was out in a field by the side of a fence. The teachers name was Mr. Burke. He was living in the neighbourhood, and everyone that sent their children to him had to pay him themselves.
    Reading and writing and arithmetic were the only subjects taught in the school. Irish was also spoken in the school. There were no blackboards at the time, and all the writing
