  1. In the year eighteen thirty nine, there was a big storm. (lasted) The storm lasted all night. It caused great damage. The roofs of several houses were blown away. Stacks of oats were blown from gardens two miles away. The doors of houses, an windows were broken in. There was not a house in the district, that there was not some damage done to it. Some say, that the people got warnings of the storm, long before it happened.
