  1. In the townland of Carn there lived an old poet, named James Mallie. He was a poor man. He lived in a small house, with his wife and one child. He wrote a poetry called "The Fair Hills of Ireland". Sometimes this poet used to teach school. He used to get sixpence for every week. His wife was a blind woman known as "Blind Mary". This poet wrote a poetry called, "Home Sweet Éire Ó" This man was born in Carton. He died at the age of 70 years. He is buried in Aghamore.
