  1. Long ago there lived a rich man and a poor man. The people used to make bread out of barley. The poor man had some barley left over and the rich man told him that if he would give it to him he would return it to him again when his own would grow. When the rich man had it threshed the poor man asked it of him. The rich man told him that he gave him no barley. The poor man went home. The following Sunday the poor man came opposite the rich mans house and under a tree. As the people were passing going to Mass and he began to sing a song in Irish for them.
