- Smiths and Forges
There are six forges in this district. John Staunton's in Newtown James Keavney's in Ballintrubber. Tom Killeen's in carnacon. Myles Fahy's in Belcarra. Tom Lavelle's in French-Hill. The frogs are build of stone with a roof of thatch. A boardea floor with stones around the fire is in Tom Killeen's forge; but the others have mud floors with "flags" around the fire-place.
