  1. The Tithe War
    A man named Hughes was shot dead in the street of Belcarra in the "Tithe War" in 1832.
    Mr. Richard Walshe T.D. however told me that he heard old people say that 6 men were killed.

  2. Land League
    Belcarra and district was very active in the Land League times. It had a fife and Drum Band which was in great favour at Lamd League meetings in places like Ballyglass, Balla Carnacon and Coill-a-bhaile. Its trainer was Tommie Naughton the Shoemaker who lives still.
    The police seemed to have a "dead set" on the Belcarra band, and Tommie Naughton used to report by getting his
