  1. Grandmother & Mare. Reed. 11.6.1935
    One time that the soldiers were at
    Kyle they took away a mare that had
    a foal from my grandmothers & left the
    foal locked up in the stable. She
    had to follow it up to the Leitrim
    Barracks (in Imaal about 12 miles away)
    & she said to the soldier that was on
    guard "Where is the mare" & he said
    "What mare" & she said "The mare you
    took from the foal yesterday" & he said
    "Go up there and slip the bridle off of its
    head. I won't say a word. We must
    let the mare back to the foal anyway"
    The mare went off like the wind
    & was at Kyle before she was at
    [Mugduff?]
    They had a [___] of oatenmeal at
