He went to the war, and he
was expected home on a cerrtain night. He was a very popular man
in the neighbourhood, and
everybody wsa fond of him.
So when the peopel all found
out that he was coming home
they lit bonefires all
over the county. There was a
great bonefire lit in Ballyhogue
this night. There were two long
poles stuck down in the ground
very firmly, and then there were
a lot of faggots got, and
they were tied to the pole
up to the very top. Then
there was tar put on them and you may swere when the
match was put to it that
there was a bit of a blaze.
When the bonefire was lit
