Mrs. Kearns of Tinakilly went to school eighty years ago. She used to go to two old ladies who lived in an old cabin, Ten were going to school altogether. These two old ladies were very well educated and they were sisters. The pupils used to bring them bread and meal and firewood. There used to be a lot of these schools in the Co. a that time.
When these two old ladies died there was a teacher came along by the name of John Morrisey. He used to stop in the big farmers houses for a week at a tine, and all the pupils used to give him two pence a week. He was a very good teacher also, but he was more expensive than the two old ladies, for two pence was a lot of money them times.
