“One night there was a man coming from his 'cuaird'.”

The man ran off up the Glen quickly and off out the mountain to where the stone was. He lifted the stone and out leaped a large black dog. He threw down the stone and ran home with his life and he was glad to get away from the black dog without the gold. He never saw either the black dog or the white man again.
- There was a storm in the year eighteen hundred and thirty nine. It did a lot of harm. It swept away three bridges, a bridge in Garranboy and another in Ballycorney and one in the Glen. There were trees knocked in Ballycorney and killed four cattle and a horse. Some old houses in Ross were knocked. There were some houses in the Glen(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
