“In olden times the people could spare money a lot easier than they can now.”
In olden times, the people could spare money alto easier than they can now. They had to lay out no money because they made their own clothes from the wool. When the sheep were shorn they would take the wool to the mill to get it carded that is made into long rolls. The next thing to be done with this was to spin it on a spinning wheel. The next thing to be done after making it into thread was to take it into a big house and wrap it on timber pegs driven in the wall to make it fit for the weaver. The weaver had an affair called a loom on which he used to manufacture this into flannel. After that the next thing it went through was to be dyed and then it was fit to be made into garments which the women at that time were able to make.
