- There are many signs and omens of good and bad weather.
There is a very old saying, -
"A red sky in the morn is a shepherd's warning.
A red sky at night is a shepherd's delight".
A clear blue sky denotes a good day.
A ring near the moon, denotes a storm far away. If a ring seems to be far away from the moon there will be a a storm.If the stars shoot there will be a storm.
If there are a lot of stars in the sky there will be a storm.
If the sun goes down red, there will be good weather. A bit of a rainbow is called a weather gall. If the clouds seem dull there will be rain. If the clouds are blue there will be fair weather.
If the dog seems to eat grass and worms there will be a storm. If the cat sits with his back to the fire, there will be a storm. If the cat puts (his) his paw over his ear when he is washing his face there will be a storm.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
