- In olden days an old gentleman named, A.E. Humphrys, whose residence was at Lisagone Ballyhaise. His pastime was mostly spent in hunting. He kept hunting horses, deer, and beagle hounds.
Now and again he put the deer in the deer-cart and brought her to the high parts of the country.
As the deer was let free for the chase, himself mounted on horse with her-ladyship by his side. As he blew his horn and cracked the whip the hounds gave the cry for the chase, which lasted the whole day. One day the deer was close run. She made he escape by jumping into a drain in Crossrea.
The (deer) dogs was talled off, and the deer taken in safety to her cart, and then to her home again.
An old cow or horse which was useless were sold at a small price for food for his dogs.
His dogs were kept in a large kennel in the wood(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
