One time a man named Tom came to Manorhamilton with a pound to buy a bag of flour.

One time a man named Tom came to Manorhamilton with a pound to buy a bag of flour.
He saw many balloons hung up in shop windows. In he went one shop and there was one there and he asked the shopman what it was and was told it was a mare's egg. "How much would you charge for one"? asked Tom.
"Well"! Says the shopman "as you'r a decent man's son I'll give it to you for a pound" The man told Tom there would come a mare out of it.
Tom bought it and when he was returning he fell on the balloon and it gave a great shot. A hare heard the shot and ran out from beside the man.
Tom thought it was a young mare that came out of the balloon and he ran after him shouting "Peo,Peo, Peo."
