- There is a pipe up in the mountain, known as Gaffney's pipe. A man was going by this pipe one day; he had a cow with him. Out looked a fairy wearing a red jacket. He had with him, a crock of gold and he offered it to the man for the cow but the man would not accept it. He said he would keep his cow. All at once he found the cow being pulled from him and taken into the pipe by the fairy. Then the fairy spoke and said: "This crock of gold is for you now, and I have the cow. But you will had to dig under the pipe for the gold. I was told this story some months ago. The man went home without his cow. He was afraid to dig under the pipe. No one else has tried, since, to find this treasure.
