Long ago people marked their cattle with mud or by cutting a peice of the beasts ear with a scissors.Long ago jobbers came from house to house buying cattle. in those days faris were held every month in Ballycumber and they had to be discontinued because they destroyed the good fairs.
- There is a fair in Gallen called the "Gooseberry Fair". It is so called because it comes off when the gooseberries are ripe.
