  1. There once lived in Bellair a man and wife named Doherty. They had no family. One day while the man was out clipping the ditch a woman with a shawl on her head came to the door. She said what a pity it was not to have a family. She said "There are three big black hairs on your husband's throat and when he goes to bed to night get the razor and cut the three black hairs and then you will have a family". When this old woman was going out the avenue where the old man was clipping the ditch she said to the man. "That wife of your is a very treacherous woman." She is talking of cutting your throat to night when you go to bed. When the man went to bed he pretended to be asleep. His wife got the razor and stole into the room with it. When she was just going to cut the hairs the man jumped out of bed and beat his wife and she went away from him. She never came to him anymore. This old
