    named Richard O'Connor who used to visit the house in Ballypracus and other places and stay for two or three nights in each house. The children gave him two pence per week. There was also a hedge-school at Cametigue. Mrs Kavanagh taught in it. About thirty children attended it. There was another hedge-school in Rossard. Annie Kearns taught in it. In Donohue's lane at Coorduff there was a hedge-school. Peter Roche taught in it. He was also paid by the children. None of these teachers knew Irish.
