    In a little brick house on the side of a hill

    (continued from previous page)
    She dressed in her flannels every month in the year
    And pinned on her shoulders a shawl
    (One almost but smothers to think of it now)
    But she did'nt mind it all all.
    She was faithful, devout, to her Church and her God
    Every morning attended the Mass.
    And we know there was something most radically wrong
    When Bridget would fail in her pass
    She was left a pittance so miserably small
    By pinching, it would keep her alive
    But she kept up her spirits and never complained
    Though she sharpened her wits to contrive
    In Springtime she'd dig the horse radish roots
