  1. There are many old castles in my district but the oldest one is the castle of the Peppers in Ballygear. It dates back to the time of the Normans. The present occupier of the castle is Mrs Dobbin Pepper. There is another old castle at Dunleer and it is called Barmeath Castle. There is no occupants in it but the caretaker. There is another old castle at Slane. It was built after Cromwells invasion. The present occupier is Dowager Marshioness
