  1. About forty five years ago the people of Drogheda were very industrious and they used make rugs, candles, barrels etc.
    A man named Mr Byrne used make candles and sell them very cheaply. He had a shop in West Street and it was there that he used sell the candles. Nearly every person in the town used buy their candles from him. Mr Larkins chemist shop is now in the spot.
    A man named Mr Halpin used make barrels in Stockwell Street and sell them through the town. These barrels were supposed to be the best ever made in Louth.
