  1. There is a legend that treasure is hidden in the old castle of Dowth, once owned by Lord Netterville. It is said that there are vaults under the ground in which vases, vestments and many other valuable articles are supposed to be contained. They were put there in the penal days. No attempt was ever made to dig for them.
    One day when a man was ploughing over the vaults he found a gold necklace. Another man found an enamel brooch.
