  1. It is 100 years since the famine. A lot of damage was done to the country that time. The potatoes were very plenty the year before and the people did not value them, and belithe came on them. The people had nothing to eat but turnips and dockleaves and some were found dead on the roadside. At that time the English sent over meals. The wheat of the country was sent out England to pay the rent. Some of the people went to America and some of the died going out.
