- Long ago the people were very poor and they had to sell the corn to make the rent for the landlord.
They ate three meals a day in summer and two meals a day in Winter. The food they had consisted of potatoes, and sour milk, and sometimes porridge. The people were very strong and healthy. They were often up at five o clock in the morning and had three hours worked to their breakfast and for breakfast they had potatoes and sour milk They had porridge for dinner and potatoes for supper.(continues on next page)
