  1. Folklore - Song

You muses now come aid me ¶ And instantly obey me

About the year 1850 the following song was composed about Cahirmurphy. The writer Simon Hunt lived in the village of Kilmihil.
    I
You muses now come aid me
    And instantly obey me
    Lest intellect should fail me
    To harmonise my rhymes
With your co-operation and eloquent dictation
My poetical narration in every verse shall shine.
    II
    To praise with acclamation
    A gentleman of station
    Browne-Burke a true Melisian
    Whose deeds shall ever shine
    No esquire in the nation
    Of rank or education
