  1. Long ago there was a landlord ruling over every district. Sometimes there was one over every townland. The landlord of Leitrim was Colonel Stewart. He lived in the north of Ireland. He had Marcus Keane as a rent warnet. The people of the district were very much afraid of the landlords. Sometimes men men or girls bought a farm from the landlord unknown to the farmer and the farmer had to work it and pay rent. Once Miss Kelly from Clonina bought five farms in Leitrim from the Landlord unknown
