  1. In the year 1847 there was a great in Ireland and the people were dying in hundreds on the roadside with the hungar. They had plenty wheat and other grain but they had to sell it to make the rent for the landlord. The potatoes were the staple food at that time, and then all those rotted in the heaps and the people were left without any food to eat. They all rotted in one-night. The English erected "poor-houses" throughout the country. They gave soup and meat to people that would turn on their side, and a
