  1. The food the people used to eat long ago was mostly potatoes and sour milk. They used to eat stirabout for their breakfast. Potatoes and sour milk for their dinner. Potatoes and salt for their supper and sometimes sour milk boiled. They used to live on three meals a day. They used to eat sorrel grass and watercress.

  2. Three meals was the usual in olden times, breakfast, dinner and supper. Breakfast was usually about eight, dinner at three, and supper at night. A lot of work was done before breakfast beginning usually at dawn, and often a ridge of potatoes was dug or half a quarter of hay cut, and or the cows milked before breakfast. This custom is still carried on to a lesser extent. Breakfast was usually of potatoes and milk
