    the most attractive scene of the all was that witnessed on May mornings. The girls used gather on the strand at sunrise to perform all the customary ceremonies assocated with Bealtaine.
    Some fragments of their song still survive
    "I'll go down to Ballinacubby sweet strand when the May morning dawns
    Agus tugaimuíd féin an Samhradh linn.
    We'll build as fine ships as ever set sail
    Apast the Town Rock to the Bay of Kinsale.
    To the Race of Old Head where the fish never fail.
    Agus tugamuíd féin an Samhradh Linn."

    And here is something about Ballinacubby and the Whiteboys.
    "In Ballinacubby we first broke out
    In sweet Comogue we made a rout
    And, on Pipers Hill we were found out
    Hurra for the Barley Reapers."
