    when he came to Lettercolum, a townland about a mile west of the village, he was tired and he sat on the ditch to rest, after a while he fell asleep, but he soon awoke as he felt a mist on his forehead. When he put up his hand, a letter was drooped into it by a dove. When he opened it, it stated to dig the spot where he was resting, and a well would spring up. When it spring up a wall was built around it. It was blessed on September 8th by the late Father OHea, parish priest of Timoleague. The townland of Lettercolm, which means the "dove letter" then got its name.
    A few people were cured at this well Mrs. Fleming from Barryshall, a townland about a mile and a half from the village, had a sore leg; one Easter Sunday morning she went to the well very early to see the sun dancing, and she rubbed the water to her leg. All at once she felt he leg getting better, and about a week afterwards it was completely cured. She has great
