  1. People don't like to give milk away on May day and they don't like to let any stranger milk their cows on that day in case they would take their luck away by an evil eye.
    When people ar driving in the cows, they say "habha-habha".
    When a cow calves is is a custom to light a blessed candle near her, and to sprinkle her with holy water. Her milk isn't mixed with the other cows' milk for a few days, neither is it used for colouring the tea.
    It is a custom to hang a horse-shoe up in the stall for luck.
    When a cow is cross, she is spancelled, that is a rope is put around her legs to prevent her from kicking.
    If a cow has a bad pap, her milk isn't milked into a pail, it is milked down on the ground.
    If a cow has weak milk, she is put rearing a calf.
    When a cow calves, it is customary to give her bran drinks for a dew days, and she is kept in the stall during that time.
