    turnips, and mangolds. Straw and bad hay are used for bedding. During summer the are left outside day and night. The cow is the most useful animal to us.
    We have three horses the pony, Dick, and the foal. The pony is the only good working horse we have. Dick is an old stiff horse, aged about twenty one years. Our horses are tied in a stable during the winter nights, fed with hay oats, and sometimes boiled turnips.
    We have four pigs. The pig belongs to the elephant family. Pigs are fed with
