  1. In this country there is a special time appointed for marriages which is between Christmas and Lent. It is known as Shrove. Formerly, all marriages took place at that time. On the day of a marriage all the friends of the married couple would gather together and hold a big feast often lasting two days.
    The people then had many old customs. Some like to see snow falling as they said, " marry when the snow falls fast and true, happiness is sure to last." Others
