None of them know Irish. Some of them can tell stories.
Houses were much more numerous locally in former years. There are many now in ruins. A fence on one of my father's fields bounding a road is part of a wall of an old house. An O'Driscoll family lived there. They say that an old man lived there and that he died of the famine. They say that he had only a sixpence in his pocket.
There is a grave in one of Florence Sullivan's fields near which an old ruin was. I do not know who lived there but it is supposed that they died of the famine.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
