    Long ago shops were very plentiful in this district. People would bring fish, boots and all sorts of goods to the Church gate after Mass on Sundays and they used to sell them to the congregation.
    The money was very scarce here long ago. When the farmers wanted to get a job done by the smith they used to barter by giving potatoes for the job done.
    The people long ago thought that if they began work on a Saturday they would never be finished. The people long ago got better value for a penny than is got now.
