    "Churning"
    There is a churn at home made by LLewellin and Bros.it is about fifteen or twenty years old .Butter is made once a week in Winter and twice in Summer.It takes about twenty minutes to make a churn when the cream is heard to 60 .My mother usually makes the churn.If a stranger comes in while the churn is being made it is customary for him to wind it around a few times,because it is said if a stranger comes in while the churn is being made he brings the butter away with especially if he lights his pipe in the house.
    many years ago there was a man who had four cows ,but he could not make any butter .One day it happened that he went into a neighbours house ,and he was astonished to find him making a
