  1. A friar escaped from Quin Abbey when it was burned by Cromwell's soldiers. He lived in caves in Mause for years. There are some stone altars round the districts where he used to celebrate Mass. The people used to bring him food in their turn. Some people took some of the stones from the altars to build a house. A man is seen there every seven years.
Another friar was hiding in Latoon and was fed in the same way. He used to hide in the people's houses and celebrate Mass in their houses.
