On one occasion he employed a new clerk and while "Seán" was absent in Dublin on business, the new clerk thought he would clean the office, not knowing his master's eccentricity in that direction, and gave the place a thorough cleaning, only to meet with dismissal on the return of his master.
   There was also an other tobacco factory in Cavan, owned by a man named Kennedy, who was Grandfather of the present Mr Fred Kennedy Solr. This man had also a bakery and grocery business.
   The story is told that on one occasion one of his bakers and one of his "tobacco boys" as they were called had a row, dusting each other with flour bags on one of the lofts where tobacco leaf was spread out to dry and covering the leaf with flour.
   When this leaf was manufactured into tobacco, it was a great success and very profitable owing to the adulteration with the flour which had accidentally got mixed with it, and the firm continued to use the flour during the process of manufacture.
